A groundbreaking financial maneuver has been executed by Metaplanet, as the company successfully issued its 14th Series of Ordinary Bonds. This strategic move has garnered $21.25 million in funds earmarked for expanding their digital asset portfolio. Approved during a recent board meeting on May 9 and fully subscribed by EVO FUND, these bonds are structured uniquely as zero-coupon instruments without interest payments. Each bond carries a nominal value of $625,000 and is set for redemption in full by November 7, 2025.

In addition to standard redemption protocols, bondholders possess the right to request early payouts with a single business day’s notice. Furthermore, Metaplanet retains the authority to trigger partial redemptions contingent upon receiving equivalent proceeds from its upcoming stock acquisition rights series. The funds generated from this issuance will be channeled into acquiring more Bitcoin, aligning with a previous filing that outlined the corporation's multi-faceted financing and stock acquisition tactics. Notably, these bonds are unsecured and do not necessitate a bond administrator due to specific legal exemptions under Japan’s Companies Act.

Metaplanet continues to solidify its position as a leader in the digital asset space. This week, the company added 555 Bitcoin to its reserves at an approximate cost of $53.4 million, pushing its total holdings to 5,555 Bitcoin. With cumulative investments reaching $481.5 million and an average purchase price per Bitcoin at $86,672, Metaplanet ranks as the largest public Bitcoin holder in Asia and the ninth globally. The company's stock has surged over 2,200% since embracing the Bitcoin standard last year, fueled by investor confidence in its digital asset strategy. Metaplanet aims to amass 10,000 Bitcoin by year's end and plans to establish a U.S.-based subsidiary, Metaplanet Treasury, in Florida. This new entity could raise up to $250 million, further supporting Bitcoin acquisitions and global expansion efforts. Despite the significant bond issuance, Metaplanet anticipates minimal impact on its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending December, committing to provide updates should any major developments arise.

The aggressive adoption of Bitcoin within corporate treasury strategies highlights a transformative trend reshaping capital management practices worldwide. Metaplanet's pioneering approach exemplifies how companies can leverage innovative financial tools to bolster their digital asset portfolios while maintaining financial stability. Such forward-thinking initiatives underscore the growing importance of digital assets in modern corporate finance, promoting a future where technology and finance converge seamlessly.
