The Google Gemini application has undergone a series of interface transformations in recent years, with further refinements on the horizon. Recent observations indicate forthcoming adjustments to the Gemini Live interface and significant revisions to both the app's camera user interface and the functionality of its '@' menu.
A Glimpse into Gemini's Revamped Camera Experience
An in-depth analysis of version 17.55.8 of the Google app reveals a novel camera interface for Gemini, which exhibits striking similarities to its competitors. Currently, accessing the camera through the '+' attachment option initiates a full-screen viewfinder. However, an upcoming update is poised to modify this, allowing the viewfinder to occupy approximately half of the screen, thereby enabling users to simultaneously view chat content.
Parallels with ChatGPT's Camera Design
While this user-centric visual enhancement is welcome, the resemblances to the ChatGPT app's camera interface are notable. Google's rendition appears to float above the chat window, in contrast to ChatGPT's larger camera UI that extends to the screen's bottom. A new handle at the top of Gemini's developing viewfinder will facilitate switching between full-screen and minimized modes.

The updated menu is expected to feature a 'Connectors' header and adopt a broader layout with rounded edges. Crucially, it will no longer show disabled connected apps, thus conserving screen space. Navigating to the bottom of this redesigned '@' menu will reveal a 'Connect apps' option, directing users to the dedicated Connected Apps page. Additionally, an 'Avatars' section will display existing avatars, along with an 'Add avatar' option that may prove redundant for users who have already configured one.
