Hohem has revealed its latest innovation, the Eyepic, a compact gimbal camera that offers a unique blend of stability and modularity. This device, introduced at IFA 2026, aims to redefine portable videography by integrating a three-axis stabilization system with a camera unit that can be detached for various shooting scenarios.
The standout feature of the Eyepic is its adaptable design. When the camera is connected to the gimbal, it functions as a traditional handheld stabilizer, ensuring fluid and steady footage. However, the camera can also be effortlessly removed, causing the gimbal to retract. This transformation allows the camera to be worn hands-free using accessories like a hat clip or lanyard, opening up new creative avenues for documenting activities such as cycling, hiking, travel, or family moments. Furthermore, the camera's magnetic properties enable it to attach to metal surfaces, and its 10-meter waterproofing enhances its suitability for outdoor adventures, surpassing the capabilities of many standard pocket gimbals.
Addressing modern content creation needs, Hohem has optimized the Eyepic for vertical video capture. Its 2.51-inch touchscreen can be rotated, and the camera automatically adjusts its orientation to match, facilitating seamless transitions between horizontal and vertical shooting. In vertical mode, the Eyepic records at a full 2160 x 3840 resolution at 60 frames per second, ensuring high-quality, uncropped 4K footage ideal for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. Even when detached, the gimbal's touchscreen provides access to settings and a live 1080p preview from up to 10 meters away, maintaining operational flexibility. While pricing details are yet to be announced, the Eyepic is slated for a Q1 2027 release, promising a fresh perspective on versatile and portable camera technology.
The Hohem Eyepic presents a compelling alternative in the competitive market of portable gimbal cameras. Its innovative detachable design provides a significant advantage over existing solutions like DJI's Osmo Pocket line, offering users unprecedented flexibility for both traditional and hands-free video recording. This product underscores a forward-thinking approach to content creation, empowering users to capture life's moments with greater freedom and stability.
