In a groundbreaking collaboration, Saudi Arabia has partnered with U.S.-based technology giant Nvidia to elevate its status as a global leader in artificial intelligence. This initiative aims to establish a robust network of AI factories that will support the region's digital infrastructure and foster economic diversification through advanced technologies such as cloud computing, robotics, and digital twins. Spearheaded by Humain, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, this project aligns closely with Vision 2030—a national strategy designed to reduce dependence on oil and promote innovation-driven growth. During a high-profile state visit involving President Donald Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the importance of AI infrastructure for nations worldwide, describing it as akin to electricity or the internet.
Under the agreement, Nvidia and Humain are set to construct cutting-edge AI facilities powered by the latest generation of GPUs, boasting an impressive capacity of up to 500 megawatts. The first phase alone involves deploying over 18,000 Grace Blackwell supercomputers interconnected via advanced networking technology. Tareq Amin, CEO of Humain, expressed excitement about this venture, which seeks not only to enhance technological capabilities but also to cultivate a new community empowered by intelligent systems. One key component includes introducing Nvidia Omniverse Cloud, enabling realistic simulations for industries like energy and logistics.
Beyond hardware deployment, Nvidia is committed to nurturing local talent by training thousands of developers in areas related to accelerated computing and AI applications. Additionally, the Saudi Data and AI Authority plans to leverage up to 5,000 Blackwell GPUs to create sovereign AI solutions while advancing smart city projects. Aramco Digital further contributes to these efforts by collaborating on enterprise platforms, fostering startup ecosystems, and establishing centers of excellence focused on robotics engineering.
This partnership coincides with relaxed export controls from the U.S., facilitating increased investment opportunities between American tech firms and Middle Eastern markets. Notably, recent announcements highlight significant financial commitments exceeding $600 billion toward enhancing U.S. technological and energy infrastructures.
Through this strategic alliance, Saudi Arabia positions itself at the forefront of global AI advancements, reinforcing its commitment to transforming into a knowledge-based society aligned with Vision 2030 objectives. By integrating world-class resources and expertise, both countries aim to drive sustainable progress across multiple sectors, ensuring long-term prosperity for their respective economies.
