Samsung has initiated the stable release of its One UI 9 software, built upon Android 17, to a new range of flagship devices. Following its initial deployment to the Galaxy S26 and S25 series, this significant update is now reaching the Galaxy S24 series, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. This phased rollout, commencing in South Korea, marks a continued effort by Samsung to deliver its latest operating system enhancements and features to a broader segment of its premium smartphone lineup, promising a more refined and feature-rich user experience.

The distribution of One UI 9 began in South Korea, a common practice for Samsung's major software updates. Reports from users on social media platforms confirmed the arrival of the stable update for both beta participants and general users of the Galaxy S24 series. For those who had already been testing the One UI 9 beta, the final update package is relatively compact, approximately 500MB. This smaller size reflects its function as a concluding patch to stabilize the existing beta build. The update for beta users carries the firmware version S92xNKSUGEZIF and incorporates the September 5, 2026 security patch, ensuring the latest security enhancements.

Conversely, users upgrading directly from One UI 8.5 are encountering a much larger download, weighing in at around 3.8GB. This substantial size is due to the comprehensive nature of the update, which encompasses the entire Android 17 upgrade, rather than just the incremental changes provided to beta testers. This ensures that users transitioning from an older operating system receive all the new functionalities and improvements bundled within One UI 9. Alongside the S24 series, Samsung is also extending this stable release to its 2024 foldable devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are receiving build number EZIH in Korea. For these foldable devices, the beta-to-stable over-the-air (OTA) update is approximately 408MB, while the full package for non-beta users is roughly 3.5 GB.

One UI 9 brings a comprehensive array of enhancements and new functionalities to Samsung's flagship devices. Key among these are expanded Galaxy AI features, designed to deliver more intelligent and personalized experiences. Users will also benefit from greater customization options within the Quick Panel, allowing for a more tailored interface. Significant improvements in privacy and security have been integrated, providing users with enhanced control over their data and device protection. Additionally, the update includes upgrades to Samsung Health, offering more advanced health tracking and wellness features. Across Samsung's native applications and the overall interface, users can expect numerous refinements aimed at improving usability and performance. While the initial rollout is concentrated in South Korea, Samsung's consistent update strategy suggests that the US, Europe, and other global markets will soon follow, bringing these advanced features to a wider audience.

The current phase of One UI 9 deployment is geographically restricted to South Korea, aligning with Samsung's established pattern for major software releases. This initial rollout allows Samsung to monitor performance and address any unforeseen issues in a controlled environment before a wider distribution. Given the company's past practices with the Galaxy S26, S25, and previous foldable devices, it is highly anticipated that the update will soon extend to other key markets, including the United States and European regions. This methodical approach ensures a smooth and stable transition for users globally as they receive the latest Android 17-based One UI 9 features on their devices.
