Hunt, a 6’8” forward who played at SMU, has had brief exposure in the NBA, participating in only two games for the New York Knicks during the 2021/22 season. Most of his professional career has been spent in the G League, along with a short period in Montenegro. He recently demonstrated remarkable performance during the 2023/24 season with the Cleveland Charge. In 32 regular-season games, he posted impressive averages of 18.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.4 blocks over 35.2 minutes per game. Over 48 appearances for the Charge, his overall averages were 15.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks, showcasing his athleticism, particularly in rebounding and defense. Additionally, Hunt gained valuable high-level experience competing internationally for the G League United team in the recent Intercontinental Cup.
While Hunt will participate in Detroit's training camp, it is widely anticipated that he will ultimately be waived and assigned to the Motor City Cruise, the Pistons' G League affiliate. If his contract is an Exhibit 10 deal, which is probable, he could receive a bonus of up to $85,300 if he remains with the Cruise for at least 60 days.
