NormanMax, a prominent parametric insurance and reinsurance entity based in the United States, has recently expanded its leadership team by welcoming Yong Li as the inaugural President of Climate and Alternative Risk Solutions. Li transitions from Swiss Re, bringing with him a wealth of experience cultivated over two decades in the dynamic field of weather risk transfer. This strategic appointment is poised to significantly enhance NormanMax's presence and expertise in managing non-catastrophic weather-related risks and executing sophisticated trading strategies within the market.
Li's illustrious career journey began at Nasa, followed by impactful roles as a quantitative analyst at esteemed organizations such as Williams Energy, Progress Energy, and BP. His trajectory in the risk management domain further evolved with leadership positions, including Head of Structuring and Analytics at Galileo Weather Risk Management in 2007, and later as Head of Analytics at NICO Holdings. In 2010, he joined ACE Group as a catastrophe risk portfolio manager, subsequently moving to PartnerRe Capital Markets as Managing Director, Commodities. Prior to joining NormanMax, Li spent over a decade at Swiss Re, where he progressed from a consultant to a quantitative modeling expert, then Portfolio Manager for Weather and Energy, culminating in his role as Head Portfolio Steering for the Weather and Energy Group. His broad professional background encompasses structuring and trading diverse risk transfer products, spanning both insurance and derivative formats, alongside considerable investment experience across various product offerings. Brad Meier, CEO of NormanMax Insurance Holdings, expressed enthusiasm for Li's arrival, highlighting the immense value his comprehensive experience will bring to clients and insured parties.
The addition of Yong Li to the NormanMax team signifies the company's ambitious vision for growth and innovation in the parametric risk transfer landscape. This strategic hire underscores NormanMax's commitment to augmenting its capabilities across a spectrum of perils, from natural catastrophes to weather-indexed risks. By integrating Li's profound knowledge in weather and commodity analytics, trading, catastrophe risk pricing, and portfolio management, NormanMax is not only strengthening its operational framework but also reinforcing its dedication to pioneering advanced solutions for climate and alternative risks. Such leadership acquisitions illuminate the path for positive change, fostering resilience and adaptability in an ever-evolving global risk environment.
