Motorola has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartwatch, the Moto Watch Ultra, marking a significant re-entry into the Wear OS market. Launched at IFA 2026, this new wearable differentiates itself from its predecessors by offering a suite of premium features, including advanced health monitoring capabilities developed in collaboration with Polar, comprehensive cellular connectivity via LTE eSIM, and the cutting-edge Wear OS 6. Designed to cater to users seeking a sophisticated and feature-rich smartwatch experience, the Moto Watch Ultra aims to combine style, durability, and functionality in a single device.

The Moto Watch Ultra represents a strategic shift for Motorola in its wearable division. While earlier models, such as the standard Moto Watch released at CES, focused on budget-friendly and basic functionalities, the Ultra model is a full-fledged smartwatch. It integrates a robust app ecosystem, supports third-party applications, and provides seamless access to Google's suite of services. Its enhanced connectivity features, including LTE eSIM support, allow for standalone usage, reducing reliance on a paired smartphone. Furthermore, the device boasts a 5ATM water resistance rating, signifying its ability to withstand submersion up to 50 meters, a substantial upgrade from the previous 1ATM rating.

Underpinning the Moto Watch Ultra's performance is the Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 platform, an advanced system-on-chip from 2022, complemented by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The watch's design features a circular 46mm stainless steel casing, housing a vibrant 1.5-inch pOLED display that achieves an impressive peak brightness of 2,700 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even in direct sunlight. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and the device carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, reinforcing its durability for everyday use and demanding activities.

The software experience on the Moto Watch Ultra is powered by Wear OS 6, offering users access to the Google Play Store for app downloads, Google Wallet for NFC-based payments, and the Google Gemini AI assistant. A key innovation is the integration of Motorola's Qira AI assistant, which enables natural language interactions and synchronization across compatible Lenovo and Motorola devices. Powering these features is a 550mAh battery, providing up to two days of active use with the Always-On Display deactivated. Additionally, the device supports rapid charging, delivering up to 24 hours of usage from a mere 15-minute charge via its magnetic charging dock.

Health and fitness tracking are central to the Moto Watch Ultra's appeal. Leveraging Polar's scientifically validated algorithms, the smartwatch offers in-depth wellness insights. These include Nightly Recharge for assessing recovery status, Sleep Plus Stages for detailed sleep analysis, Serene breathing exercises for stress management, and an on-wrist Running Coach that provides guidance on walking and pacing during workouts. The Moto Watch Ultra will be available for purchase starting September 10 at a price of $349.99. Carrier availability will follow, with Verizon offering the device on September 24, and T-Mobile, AT&T, and other carriers introducing it in the subsequent months. Each unit will come with two 22mm bands—one leather and one silicone—in color options such as PANTONE Black Beauty, PANTONE Mountain View, and PANTONE Nuthatch, with compatibility for universal 22mm bands allowing for further customization.
