Lucas elaborated on how his autism influences his approach to his career, particularly his need to alternate between intense social periods, such as performing in theater, and times of solitude. He explained, "...and so I enjoy periods of being very sociable, like you are in the theatre, and then I also enjoy those periods of solitude where I can just write on my own." He further emphasized the importance of recharging, noting that on his days off from performing six times a week, he prefers not to socialize, offering others "a break from me."

The actor light-heartedly remarked on his unusual appreciation for illness, stating, "I am one of the few people who doesn't mind being ill." But just to have that recharge time is quite important to me."
