Korra, the specialized Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform from Ledger Investing, dedicated to casualty insurance-linked securities (ILS), has announced a significant leadership addition. Yisheng Bu has been named Chief Actuary, joining the firm after an impressive 13-year tenure at Sompo International.

The platform, introduced last year by insurtech and casualty ILS expert Ledger Investing, serves as a crucial link for insurers, managing general agents (MGAs), reinsurers, and institutional investors. It achieves this through an integrated suite of applications and AI-driven workflows that streamline the entire reinsurance lifecycle. Bu, operating from New York, will lend his actuarial expertise to property and casualty ILS transactions and collateralized reinsurance markets, aiming to propel Korra’s expansion and foster product development. His background includes extensive knowledge in economic capital modeling, portfolio aggregation, and reinsurance strategy across various commercial insurance, reinsurance, and brokerage entities. Prior to joining Korra, Bu held the position of Vice President, Risk Analytics at Sompo International. His career also includes nearly three years in the same role at Torus Insurance, which later became StarStone in 2015, and a period as an Associate Director at broker Aon. He began his professional journey as an Actuary at Liberty Mutual Insurance.

This strategic appointment underscores Korra's commitment to enhancing its actuarial capabilities and strengthening its position in the casualty ILS market. With Bu's wealth of experience, the platform is well-poised to innovate and expand its offerings, ultimately benefiting its diverse clientele. This move reflects a forward-thinking approach to leveraging top talent for market leadership and technological advancement.
