The Charlotte Hornets organization has announced the release of guards Isaih Moore and Jaylen Sims, a strategic move to complete their roster ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season. This decision impacts both players who have contributed to the team's G League affiliate, with Sims even having stints with the main squad.
Isaih Moore, at 25 years old, joined the Hornets after an impressive 2024-25 season with the Ottawa BlackJacks in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. During his time there, the forward averaged 19.4 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. A highlight of his season was a career-best performance in August 2025, where he recorded 32 points and 14 rebounds. Moore's diverse career also includes playing for the Greensboro Swarm in the G League and the Manchester Giants in the UK’s Super League. His collegiate journey saw him play for multiple institutions including Fresno State, Southern Mississippi, St. John’s, College of Charleston, and Pearl River Community College.
Jaylen Sims, 26, is a familiar face within the Hornets' extended family. He etched his name in the Greensboro Swarm's history books by becoming their all-time leading scorer, accumulating a total of 2,216 points during the 2024-25 season. Sims was instrumental in leading the Swarm to their inaugural G League playoff appearance. Last season, he also played in six games for the Charlotte Hornets, averaging 7.0 points, 1.0 rebound, and 2.0 assists. Sims initially joined the Hornets as an undrafted player in 2022, and has since had multiple assignments with both Charlotte’s Summer League team and their G League affiliate. He also secured a 10-day contract in April 2025, which was extended to cover the remainder of that season, highlighted by a career-high 12 points against the Boston Celtics.
The Hornets' decision to part ways with Moore and Sims underscores the competitive nature of NBA roster management. Both players, with their proven capabilities in various leagues, will now look for new opportunities to continue their professional basketball careers as the Hornets prepare for the upcoming season with their finalized squad.
