Strategic Appointment in London
Hiscox Capital Partners, the arm of Hiscox Re focused on insurance-linked securities (ILS) and quota-share arrangements, proudly announces the addition of Charalambos (Harry) Spanos to its London office as a Senior ILS Actuary. This key appointment highlights the firm's ongoing commitment to strengthening its analytical prowess and expanding its influence within the dynamic ILS landscape.
A Decade of Specialized Experience
Harry Spanos brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record to Hiscox Capital Partners. With a decade of dedicated experience in the ILS and broader reinsurance sectors, his expertise spans critical areas including financial valuations, reserve analysis, and sophisticated capital modeling. His comprehensive background is expected to significantly contribute to the strategic objectives of the firm.
Prior Professional Engagements
Before joining Hiscox Capital Partners, Spanos held a prominent position at Artex Risk Solutions for four years, culminating in his role as Vice President, Advisory Services. His tenure at Artex, which began in May 2022 as Assistant Vice President, Advisory and Actuarial Services, equipped him with valuable insights into risk management and advisory functions. Prior to that, he spent two years at Securis Investment Partners, an ILS investment manager that later merged to form Twelve Securis, where he served as a Reserving and Valuations Analyst. His early career also included a significant period at Aspen Insurance Group as a Student Capital Modelling Actuary, providing him with a foundational understanding of reinsurance and ILS mechanics. He initially started his professional journey as a Natural Catastrophe Risk Consultant at Willis and subsequently as an Actuarial Student at Aviva.
Growth in Assets Under Management
The announcement of Spanos's appointment follows a period of robust growth for Hiscox Capital Partners. The division's total insurance-linked securities assets under management (AUM) reached an impressive $2.9 billion as of July 1st, 2026, marking a substantial increase. This growth underscores the increasing investor confidence and the strategic importance of the ILS market within Hiscox Re's broader operations.
Market Recognition and Directory Inclusion
Hiscox Capital Partners continues to be recognized as a leading specialist manager within the catastrophe bond and ILS fund market. The firm's inclusion in prominent directories, such as the Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) Investment Managers & Funds Directory, further solidifies its position as a key player in attracting third-party capital for reinsurance risks.
