Introducing the Customization Interface
In version 7.90.0 of Google Photos, a new "Customize" button has been discovered at the bottom of the Collections tab, strategically positioned above the floating bottom bar and the "Send feedback" option. Tapping this button reveals an intuitive interface, enabling users to effortlessly drag and rearrange various folders such as "On this device," "Places," and "People & pets" according to their preferences.
Declutter Your Digital Space: Hiding Unwanted Albums
A particularly welcome addition is the option to completely hide specific albums from view. This feature empowers users to significantly reduce visual clutter within the Collections tab, fostering a cleaner and more focused browsing experience. While most folders can be freely rearranged or hidden, the recently introduced pinned section, though not movable, can also be concealed using this new interface.
The Journey to Public Release: A Glimpse into the Future
Despite previous sightings of an inactive customization button, this new discovery confirms Google Photos' progress in developing this feature. The customization tool was observed on a Pixel 9 and was active for a single Google account. However, it subsequently disappeared after the application's data was cleared. Given these circumstances, the exact release timeline remains speculative. While the foundational framework for this customization tool is clearly established, there is no absolute guarantee that every predicted feature from APK teardowns will reach public release. Nevertheless, this highly anticipated tool is undoubtedly a feature many Google Photos users would eagerly embrace.
