The tech giant is currently developing a new animation for its Search Live feature within the Google app, alongside subtle refinements to its interface. These upcoming changes aim to provide users with a more engaging and visually appealing experience during their search interactions.
The current iteration of Search Live utilizes a simple gradient animation at the bottom of the screen, displaying various colors. However, Google's internal development efforts, as revealed through an examination of the beta version 17.55.8 of the Google app, indicate a shift towards a more intricate and fluid visual design. The forthcoming animation will replace the gradient with a display of small, indistinct, and vibrantly colored shapes, creating a 'bubbly' effect that is perceived as an aesthetic improvement over the existing design. This move aligns with Google's broader strategy of integrating sophisticated visual elements and artificial intelligence across its product ecosystem.
Beyond the animation, Google is also rethinking the layout of Search Live's interactive elements. In the present setup, the microphone icon is on the left, the camera icon is in the middle, and the transcript icon is on the right, each accompanied by a text label. The updated interface design plans to remove these descriptive labels, streamlining the visual appearance. Furthermore, the microphone and camera button positions will be swapped, placing the microphone in the central position. This strategic placement emphasizes voice input as a primary interaction method. A new wave-like animation will also appear next to the microphone when a user is speaking, providing immediate visual feedback.
These visual enhancements are well-received, particularly the central placement of the microphone, which is anticipated to be the most frequently used control within Search Live. While these modifications suggest a polished and user-ready design, Google has not yet announced a definitive timeline for their public release. It is important to note that features identified in beta versions or through code analysis may not always make it into final public releases, as development plans can evolve.
