Arbol, a forward-thinking specialist in technology-driven parametric risk transfer and climate insurance solutions, has launched an innovative parametric wildfire insurance product. This new offering targets commercial and residential properties located in wildfire-prone areas across the Western United States, providing coverage limits up to $10 million. This initiative marks a significant step in Arbol's broader strategy to enhance climate risk transfer mechanisms by integrating advanced technology, bespoke products, and robust capital to serve underserved markets.

This strategic expansion by Arbol into new risk categories and geographic regions is backed by Somers Syndicate, a prominent Lloyd's syndicate. The new wildfire product will initially focus on states such as California, Colorado, and Arizona, where the risk of wildfires is particularly acute. The leadership team for this product includes Amit Shah, Collin Chen, and Taimur Chaudhri, all of whom bring extensive experience in developing successful parametric wildfire portfolios and ensuring strong underwriting outcomes. Their expertise is crucial to Arbol’s objective of scaling its operations in climate-exposed insurance markets, especially where conventional insurance providers are scaling back their services.

A pressing need for such solutions has emerged, particularly in California, where more than 150,000 homeowners have recently lost access to private insurance coverage. Simultaneously, the state's FAIR Plan has seen substantial growth but offers limited coverage options and escalating premiums. Arbol’s parametric product is designed to circumvent the complexities of traditional loss adjustments by providing swift and transparent payouts. These payouts are triggered by objective indicators, such as satellite-verified proximity to a wildfire, thereby facilitating quicker recovery for policyholders. With maximum limits reaching $10 million, this product is tailored to meet the evolving needs of both residential and commercial policyholders who are grappling with increasing deductibles, policy exclusions, and non-renewals in conventional insurance markets.

Sid Jha, CEO of Arbol, highlighted the urgent demand for responsive and technologically advanced wildfire coverage. He noted that as traditional insurers withdraw from these high-risk markets, the disparity between increasing risk and available coverage continues to widen, leaving individuals, businesses, and entire communities vulnerable. Jha affirmed that Arbol’s wildfire product is engineered to bridge this critical gap with efficiency, accuracy, and financial stability. By leveraging proven underwriting knowledge, transparent parametric triggers, and strong reinsurance backing, Arbol is committed to reintroducing scalable capacity to a market in distress, delivering reliable solutions precisely when they are most needed.
