Appleby, a distinguished provider of offshore legal and corporate administration services, particularly renowned for its robust practice in insurance-linked securities, has recently finalized an agreement for a minority growth investment from affiliates of New Mountain Capital. This strategic infusion of capital is anticipated to propel the law firm's expansion initiatives forward with increased vigor and scope.
The agreement stipulates that New Mountain Capital, a growth-focused investment entity managing approximately $60 billion in assets, will acquire a minority stake in a newly formed Cayman Islands entity. This entity will subsequently hold Appleby Global Group LLC indirectly. Appleby Global Group LLC functions as a managed service organization for Appleby's various legal firms and is also the proprietor of Appleby Global Services, ensuring adherence to all relevant local regulations.
Following the conclusion of this transaction, Appleby's operational leadership will remain under its current management team and partners, who will retain the majority ownership of the enterprise. A key leadership transition will see Malcolm Moller, the current Group Managing Partner, assume the role of CEO for the law firm. Furthermore, Appleby has affirmed that the ownership and governance of its legal entities will continue to reside with Appleby partners who are duly qualified in their respective jurisdictions.
